The very least we all deserve after this year is a great Christmas, even if we don’t get to enjoy it quite like we normally would.
There’s so much festive fun to be had at home, and one of the best parts is decorating it for the occasion.
It’s something that everyone in the house can get involved with, and you get making your own decorations if you have kids.
Really, the decorating should be done and dusted by now, but there’s still time to do it, and you can refer to these fashionable decorating tips to help:
Hang up an upside-down Christmas tree
If you didn’t think the world had gone crazy enough in 2020, wait until you hear this – people are hanging their Christmas trees upside-down!
Ariana Grande has done it, and you’ll see them on many other Instagram feeds. It will likely come as a shock to them that upside-down trees were actually first used in the Middle Ages.
Piggyback on this re-emerging trend and buy yourself an upside-down tree from Christmas Tree World, or any of the many other online retailers stocking them.
Add a festive touch to your stairs
Turn your stairs into a magical festive sight, just like your windows and doors, rather than leave them untouched.
An all-natural garland could sit on top all the way along your bannister, or at its base, and mini garlands could also be twisted around each of the spindles, with a stocking hung from one of them for good measure.
Give the steps some attention too, placing little Christmas-like boxes in the corner of each step from top to bottom.
Wrap your front door to make it look like a present
Door wreaths are very popular at Christmas time, but there’s a rising trend in homeowners wrapping their front doors like Christmas presents.
It’s not complicated to do. You just need some red fabric, if your door is white or light-coloured, together with some scissors, duct tape, a heavy duty magnet and large bow.
So the fabric can be cut to the necessary size, measure the door and then wrap and attach the fabric to it using the tape, with the heavy duty magnet designed to keep the bow fixed on.
